 The movie Frozen has gained a lot of popularity ever since it was released on November 27, 2013. This new Disney animated feature is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s “ The Snow Queen”. According to Times Entertainment, as of February 2, 2014, this adventurous movie passed The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in cumulative worldwide box office with $864.4 million to $859.6 million. But it doesn’t stop there. This movie has yet to release in Japan and China, where it could eventually gained even more popularity. Ever since it was released in November, Frozen has been in the top 5 each weekend. In addition to that, Frozen has a very interesting soundtrack with various voices such as “Let It Go” sung by both Idina Menzel herself and well known artist Demi Lovato.

This new animated Disney movie brings all the fun and life that Disney Movies always had, while still bringing a twist that has got people running to the theaters to watch this movie.Jonathan  Frozen stars Idina Menzel who plays one of the two Disney princesses that are debuted in this movie, Elsa. Elsa from birth had the power to freeze things with a single touch or thought. It was all fun and games at first, but when things started to get serious and she accidentally hurts her sister Anna (Kristen Bell), her parents locked her away and hid her from the outside world. However her powers don’t get concealed forever. Fast forward a couple years her parents have died and Elsa is about to be crowned queen. However on the day of the coronation things get out of hand and she accidently reveals her powers to everyone. Elsa  confused and scared runs away and with her powers, unknowingly unleashing an internal winter. Anna seeing the chaos sets out to restore the summer  and retrieve her sister. She is accompanied by a mountain man name Kristoff (Jonathan Groff)  and his loyal reindeer, Sven.

Overall Frozen is definitely a must see. This movie has been a popular discussion topic among students here at Boston Latin Academy. “It’s hard to find someone who haven’t seen this movie yet. One student commented on her thoughts on this movie, “ I liked it very much. It was a very different take for a Disney movie.” -Sarah Jounaidi ‘16. Another student also shared her experiences watching the movie, “ I LOOOOVED it. I thought it had a really good storyline and was pretty funny!” -Molly Cox ‘16. When asked if it was the best Disney movie so far, however, she said, “ I don’t know but it was definitely high up on the list for best Disney movies.” Even though it may not be the best, it’s still a movie worth watching. So go watch Frozen today and experience the magic for yourself.
