“Being a part of the Row Boston team gives you an extension to your family. [We] arrive at the boathouse, a beautiful scene on the edge of the Charles, and know that being there will be the highlight of our day. No matter what happened earlier that day or week, we suck it up and head out on the water. And as soon as we get into the rush of the boat under us, feel our strength translate to that white and blue painted blade at the end of each of oars, we know that what happened earlier doesn’t matter. In fact, [all of] our concerns are resolved. What matters there on the Charles River in that moment, are those people around you who are not saying a word but all have a single mindset. Keeping in time by following the person in front of you and being part of that one machine that will always get you to the finish line.” -Ashley Destin ’14
