Puerto Rico: Taken by storm

By Michael Vainstein ’23

As many of you might know, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands were caught in the middle of hurricane Maria. Puerto Rico was hit the hardest and the majority of people are stranded with no food, water and electricity. Therefore, it is near impossible for many to get help.

Schools, businesses, and  volunteer services around the U.S are helping get supplies to Puerto Rico. President Donald Trump is set to meet with Governor Ricardo Rosselló to discuss help on getting supplies  to cities. The city of San Juan was hit the hardest out of any other city in Puerto Rico.

President Trump has said that he doubts that San Juan mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz is doing everything in her power to help the citizens of the city.  People are really struggling to get the things that they need. If we can even donate as much as a dollar it could save the life of a family in need.

The U.S is one of the biggest contributors to help with other countries and has one of the biggest food and first aid sources in the world and if they could use that on people that need it instead of it going to waste it could benefit many people.

If you have watched the news then you would now that there have been hundreds of shipping containers filled with supplies that are not being put to the use, and that is hurting many residents San Juan. Please help contribute and donate. Your teachers are taking money till the 31st of October, so please donate.
